Kitchen Manager / Executive Chef

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead back-of-house operations in a fast-paced, energetic environment with strong ties to the Charleston community.

This position is ideal for a well-rounded culinary leader who can develop great food, build a strong team, and effectively manage the financial and operational sides of a busy kitchen. The successful candidate must be present and actively engaged during peak weekend services, particularly Friday through Sunday.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily back-of-house operations, including food preparation, quality, sanitation, and service standards.
Provide hands-on leadership during peak weekend services and high-volume seasonal periods.
Ensure the kitchen is properly staffed, organized, and prepared for each service.
Recruit, hire, train, coach, and manage the performance of kitchen employees.
Mentor and develop Kitchen Managers and other emerging leaders.
Prepare staff schedules and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
Develop weekday specials and contribute to menu planning and development.
Coordinate kitchen operations for special events and catering services.
Manage inventory, ordering, par levels, food costs, waste, and vendor relationships.
Develop and monitor budgets and operational reports.
Track labor and food costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
Maintain a positive, professional, and accountable kitchen culture.
Establish effective systems and procedures that support consistent kitchen operations.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have proven leadership experience as an Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Kitchen Manager, or in a comparable culinary management position.

Maintains high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and service.
Builds, motivates, and develops strong kitchen teams.
Understands food costs, labor management, budgeting, and inventory control.
Demonstrates excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Is available and actively involved during the kitchen’s busiest weekend services.
Can create systems that allow the kitchen to operate efficiently and consistently.
