Maintenance Technician Trainee

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician works under the direct supervision of experienced maintenance technicians while developing the skills needed to service, install, operate, modify, and maintain equipment throughout an industrial facility. This position assists with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Learn and follow safe work practices related to mechanical and electrical systems, automation, facility maintenance, HVAC, hydraulics, pneumatics, electronic controls, welding, and machine-tool operation.
Perform general maintenance under direct supervision and according to established procedures and instructions.
Assist with troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues involving facility equipment and conveyor systems.
Perform basic maintenance on HVAC components, including pumps, check valves, thermostats, flow valves, and gauges.
Use hand and power tools to complete general maintenance and repair tasks.
Complete basic carpentry work as needed.
Assist with routine inspections and maintenance of facility safety systems, including sprinkler and generator systems.
Perform lubrication, oiling, battery maintenance, and other preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks.
Enter maintenance activities and parts information into the CMMS.
Help maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
Operate facility vehicles and material-handling equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations.
